DO NOT CONNECT ANY HDMI SOURCE

  1. Connect a COAXIAL CABLE to a TV.

  2. TURN ON your modulator.

  3. Ensure your TV ANTENNA MODE is set to CABLE MODE

If you plan to use a different standard you must first change it on the modulator & your tv.

  4. Rescan your TV - Find your channels - You should see SMPTE Bars or the PVI Logo.

  5. Once the above test/setup is completed, you may then inject the modulator to your coax cable distribution.

  6. Use a TEST TV to verify you receive the modulated channels to your designated points within your system.

IMPORTANT

If you do not receive the scanned modulated channels on the TEST TV at one endpoint, this means you must troubleshoot your modulator & coax cable setup.

BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING

  1. SIGNAL LOSS

    1. The signal is not reaching the specific endpoint. You will need to add a COAXIAL AMPLIFIER to your distribution system to regain an adequate stable signal.

You can use any 10 / 15 / 20 decibels gain generic digital antenna amplifier

  2. ANOTHER EXISTING CHANNEL IS JAMMING A CHANNEL

    1. DISCONNECT other channel feeds. Check if the channels display properly. You can move channels to other frequencies to avoid possible jamming.

      1. See the instruction manual.

    2. For the VeCOAX ULTRA: Recall a higher preset so all the frequencies will change at once.

  3. OVERDRIVE OF AN EXISTING COAXIAL DISTRIBUTION AMPLIFIER
    1. You will need to either put a COAXIAL ATTENUATOR PRIOR TO INJECTING the coaxial signal to your distribution.
    2. You can access the control menu & ATTENUATE THE OUTPUT LEVEL as needed. There should be NO MORE SATURATION and/or RF SIGNAL DISTORTION at your RF COAX AMPLIFIER INPUT which may have been disrupting the digital modulation data.
  4. ANTENA MODES

    1. If you are using QAM MODE (Your TV ANTENNA is set to USA CABLE MODE.) select QAM64 in case your cables are very long and you have many splitters that might lose too much signal.

    2. QAM64 or QAM256 DOES NOT CHANGE the audio/video quality. QAM64 is always better on longer cables, interferences, older coaxial systems, and distribution boxes.

Use QAM256 only if your TV cannot receive QAM64 cable mode.

5. DIRECT TV AND OTHER SOURCES

    1. It is important to set your DIRECT TV / DISH / COMCAST / SKY / ETC. as well any other video device to a FIXED RESOLUTION (1080i / 720p...)

    2. When you change the channel or change the menu, the source will not change the output resolution "forcing" the modulator to auto-readapt.

    3. Please refer to the DIRECT TV pdf setting on this web site to set your DTV boxes
